Alejandra Garcia Lezama

Ale (she/her/ella) was born and raised in beautiful Mexico before she immigrated to the USA in 2018. She has always had a keen interest in the intersection of social justice, innovation, and mobilization. This led her to study Law and obtain a Master's in Nonprofit Leadership. She has spent a decade finding ways to connect with and inspire people and community partners into taking action to change the world we live in. Now, as the Director of Strategy and Development at PIP, she aims to provide guidance and support in the exciting exponential growth the organization is having. As an immigrant woman of color, she understands the struggles and hopes most of the families we serve have. Her goal is to elevate their voices and center their stories in everything we do. In her free time, you´ll find her planning her next trip, practicing yoga, or going dancing with friends.

Clarena Tobon 

Survivor of suicide loss, Mental health Advocate & Public Speaker. I strive to bridge the gaps within the community around Mental Health and poverty. Born in Colombia, a transplant to Chicago, and a world traveler. My heart lives in the nonprofit world. Let's work together to help our communities thrive!

New Member Scholarships

Jefferson Nunez

Having lived in the North East and South West, my family and I are happy to call Austin, TX our home. For the last 14 years, I have studied, practiced, and embraced architecture as my professional career. In the last 8 months, I have been excited to be shifting my focus to working for nonprofits that build relationships that support and create communities. I am actively volunteering as a Big Brother in the BBBS of Central TX and engage in group volunteering events across Austin every month. Outside of architecture and nonprofits, I love hiking, camping, and experiencing different cultures through their food and art.

Brittany Yelverton 

Brittany is the Director of Community Engagement at Girls Empowerment Network. Though originally from Texas, Brittany pursued her undergraduate degree at Elon University in North Carolina where she earned a BA in Communications and English and minored in Women’s/Gender Studies. After graduating from Elon, Brittany was selected as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar and earned her graduate degree in Media Studies at Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa. Brittany first began working in the Austin nonprofit community when she served as the AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer Specialist at GIRLS in 2011-2012. Most recently, Brittany served as Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas’ Community Outreach Specialist and was awarded the 2013 Reproductive Equity Award from the Lilith Fund. Currently, Brittany serves on the board of Capital Area Democratic Women and the Dell Medical School LIVESTRONG Cancer Institute’s Young Adult Advisory Board. She is a graduate of Leadership Austin’s Emerge program.
