Storytelling for Change: Advancing Equity Through the Stories We Tell

Tuesday, October 25, 2022 - 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm (virtual)

Humans are hardwired for story, making storytelling a powerful tool for nonprofits to build awareness and support for their mission. However, it’s crucial that the stories we tell in our fundraising communications and beyond do no harm. Join us for an interactive discussion about the best practices to tell compelling stories that are also collected ethically, retain the dignity of the storyteller, and advance equity.

This session has been approved for 1 point of CFRE credit.

Speaker: Jené Shepherd, MA, Director of Marketing and Communications, Thinkery

A nonprofit fundraiser and communicator, Jené has spent the last 10 years working in the nonprofit sector to create greater equity for BIPOC communities in her native Central Texas. Currently, she is the Director of Marketing and Communications at Thinkery. Jené is a proud Texas Longhorn and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Government from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s degree in Mass Communication with a focus on strategic communication from Texas State University. She currently sits on the Board of AFP Austin and the local chapter of the Young Nonprofit Professional Network.
