Session Description:

How does marketing affect fundraising and vice-versa? Are there differences in how you market a nonprofit organization vs. a for-profit company? What are the biggest issues facing nonprofit marketing today and in the future?

Join us for a lively discussion of these topics and more with three area professionals who have a depth of knowledge and broad variety of experience in nonprofits and marketing. This program is being offered as a coordinated effort between the AFP Greater Austin Chapter and the Women Communicators of Austin.

 

Panelists:

Bianca Bellavia
Assistant Vice President, University Marketing
The University of Texas at Austin

Bio: Bianca Bellavia has 30 years of experience serving local nonprofits. She is the Assistant Vice President for University Marketing at The University of Texas at Austin where she leads a highly talented team that includes brand and creative strategy, admissions marketing, development marketing, digital strategy, and university marketing campaigns and events. Before stepping into her current role, she served for five years as the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications for the University Development Office. Prior to UT, Bianca served in similar roles at Ascension Seton, Livestrong and the National Hispanic Institute.

 

Angel Leverett
Director of Marketing & Communications
Austin Habitat for Humanity

Bio: Angel Leverett is the Director of Marketing & Communications at Austin Habitat for Humanity. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University. For over 15 years, Angel has worked in Marketing & Communications for Global & Fortune 500 companies and with nonprofits in Austin. Additionally, she serves on the Boards of Women Communicators of Austin and the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Program.

 

Monica Maldonado Williams
Manager, Social Impact & Community Engagement
University Federal Credit Union

Bio: Monica Maldonado Williams is Manager of Strategic Partnerships where she leads UFCU’s nonprofit relationships, employee volunteering programs, and the credit union’s diversity initiatives. For 15 years, Monica ran GivingCity Austin, a local multichannel media company covering the nonprofit sector with a mission of community engagement, publishing online, broadcast, and print. She has been communications director of Austin Community Foundation, Austin Opera, and advised others. She is also the co-founder of The New Philanthropists, a nonprofit with a mission to increase the diversity of nonprofit boards. Currently, Monica is a trustee at Breakthrough Central Texas and a communications chair of Austin Corporate Engagement Council and Central Texas Asset Funders Network.

Bio: Michel Hudson, CFRE, CEFL has over 30 years of experience guiding nonprofits and associations in the roles of staff, volunteer, board member, and consultant. She founded 501(c)onsulting in 2001, and focuses on providing groups with clarity and a framework for growth through strategic planning, board retreats, and executive coaching. She has also served as an Interim Executive Director for local education foundations. Self-professed as addicted to volunteering, she was the 2022 AFP-Greater Austin Chapter Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year, and is currently serving as President-Elect for the Women Communicators of Austin.
