AFP Austin Virtual Conference Breakout Session

All Hands On Deck: Fundraising as a part of everyone's job description

Megan Arnold, CFRE - YMCA of Middle Tennessee

Does the culture of your organization put all responsibility for fundraising on your shoulders? Do you wish that you could tap into the front-line staff delivering your programs to support your efforts? What if staff across all levels of your organization viewed you as a partner and worked together to play a key role in telling your story, thus raising support to fund your important cause? In this session, we'll explore together various staff roles across all levels of your organization and the specific roles they each might play to support a philanthropic culture. You'll walk away with a suggested action plan for what you might do right away to gain new partners in fundraising across all levels of your staff team.

Megan Arnold, CFRE - YMCA of Middle Tennessee

A dynamic business leader with 20 years of experience in development and education for non-profit organizations, Megan has proven to be a reliable, skillful, and loyal contributor to an organization’s overall success. Megan embraces a fundraising philosophy that begins with genuine relationships while connecting donors’ passions and philanthropic dollars with causes making a difference, and then prioritizing personalized stewardship for lifetime loyalty.

Megan has worked with YMCAs across the country beginning her career with the Central Florida YMCA followed by roles at the YMCA of Greater Houston, YMCA of Metro Atlanta, and Pikes Peak YMCA. Most recently Megan served the YMCA of Austin association as the Vice President of Development where she successfully raised over $2M annually, and completed the phase one capital campaign of $16M to build the newest YMCA camp in the country. Megan recently relocated to Nashville and is thrilled to now serve the YMCA of Middle Tennessee as the Sr. Regional Philanthropy Director.

Throughout her career at YMCA’s across the country, Megan has tapped into who we know are the best relationship builders, connectors, and storytellers…our program staff! In our work, this includes the front-line welcome center staff, afterschool counselors, swim instructors and even friends in the administrative office. Megan has overseen projects from conceptualization to long-term sustainability, transforming the cultures of YMCA’s from operating in silos to having buy-in and synergy across all levels of the organization.

Megan is married to Austin (whom she met at the Y!), and has three daughters; Ella (9), Hannah (4), and Augusta (2). They can often be found exploring local parks and trails or seeking out the best coffee shops in their new town.
